Jerrold meeting with Liberian Church And school leaders

James and Lilia Togba;    He pastors the Maranatha Baptist Church. During the war, the government sent a plane to bomb this church, because rebel snipers were using it as a base. When he saw the small cross, the pilot fired a rocket instead of a bomb.  The bomb would have destroyed the church, the rocket only made a hole in the wall.  After the war, Pastor Togba met the pilot, and was able to explain why he did not drop the bomb, and to share Jesus with him

Filling a container for “Project Liberia”.  This is an effort to provide school supplies, books, and equipment for the Believers.  Christian schools operate much like the clinic.  Few teachers have formal training, but they do what they can with what they have.  For many children, their seat is a cinder block, they have no books or materials. But there are no free public schools left in the country.

A Clinic operated by the African Fundamental Baptist Mission. It has no resident doctors, but for most Baptists the hospitals (which are catholic or episcopal) are inaccessible.  This do-it-yourself approach marks the Liberian people.  Who are carrying on God’s work as they can despite the aftermath of the war.

The Theological Library for all of Liberia; virtually every pastor in America has more resources than these.  But this is all that exists for the country.  And even these few books are rapidly deteriorating.  No electricity means no air conditioning. The plastic film you see is a feeble effort to slow down the growth of mold and mildew.  The Liberians need books, a facility to house them, and a generator to power air conditioning at least part of the time.
